My Patron Saint for 2009? St. Hegesippus! :)

When I first learned of the practice of choosing (or rather, allowing a Saint to choose) a Patron for a year's time ~ or longer ~ I was instantly intrigued. About 1.5 years ago, I was chosen by Ven. Matt Talbot, an Irishman who is favored by his fellow countrymen for all that he went through in giving up his addiction to alchohol, and for all the help he gave to others on that same path. I think I learned alot from him, in reading about his life, and I continue to pray to him to this day...and I also kept him as a Patron throughout 2008.
When 2009 first dawned, I decided to move on however, and see who else might have me in his/her sights, lol...and lo! There was St. Hegesippus!
Who??
St. Hegesippus, a my Patron for 2009, same feast day as birth of Andrew :)
St. Hegesippus
2nd c. Jewish convert, writer, researched early Faith, wrote first Pontifical succession from St. Peter to St Eleuterus (about 189)
writings were well-known and respected by others of his day, incl. St. Jerome
journeyed on pilgrimage to every major church East & West ~ stayed in Rome 20 years
considered the Father of Church history

also wrote the history of the Church from the Death of Christ til his present day; this was lost, very regrettable...
